Agreement Establishing a Framework for an Economic Partnership Agreement Between the East African Community Partner States on One Part and the European Community and its Member States on the Other Part

01/04/2008

Author: EAC & the EU

This agreement established a framework for an Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between the East African Community (EAC) states - Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda - and the EU. There is a section on fisheries (starting on p15). The objectives of the partnership for marine fisheries include strengthening cooperation to promote sustainable fisheries development and management in the EEZs of the EAC countries; and effective monitoring, control and surveillance to combat IUU fishing.
