Endangered Fish Alliance
The Endangered Fish Alliance was started in Toronto in 2002 by a group of concerned chefs, restaurateurs, caring food professionals, conservationists, and was coordinated by staff members of the Toronto enviroguide. It is a not-for-profit organisation, which asks its members not to serve four endangered fish - swordfish, Chilean sea bass, orange roughy and certain types of caviar. The organisation encourages members to learn about the state of the worlds fisheries before choosing seafood for their menus or inventory.

The organisation mobilises sustainable seafood markets via six main programmes: research, industry outreach, public education, retail partnerships, strategic communications, and dialogue with government.

With approximately 120,000 mts (metric tonnes) of fish and seafood handled yearly, the Ocean Trawlers Group is the biggest supplier of cod from the Barents Sea, a leading distributor of cod and haddock in North America, and the largest processor of cod in China.
