NAFO

The Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO) regulates international waters between Canada and Greenland or more exactly 'he waters of the Northwest Atlantic Ocean north of 3500'N latitude and west of the line extending due north from 3500'N latitude and 4200'W longitude to 5900'N latitude, thence due west to 4400'W longitude, and thence due north to the coast of Greenland, and the waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, Davis Strait and Baffin Bay south of 7800'N latitude'.

NAFO was established in 1979 to manage most of the fish stocks in the northwest Atlantic, except for salmon, tunas/marlins, whales and sedentary species. Its members are Canada, Cuba, Denmark (in respect of the Faeroe Islands and Greenland), the European Union, France (in respect of Saint Pierre et Miquelon), Iceland, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Norway, the Russian Federation, Ukraine and the United States of America.

NAFO members are: Canada, Cuba, Denmark, the EU, France, Iceland, Japan, South Korea, Norway, Russia, Ukraine and the US.
